The release of my new single "The Murray River Song" is due to hit the airwaves as we speak. A self penned song I wrote this song while performing at Mulwala festival in 2008. I had spent a lot of time on the banks of the murray as a child and this had been the first time I had returned, and I got quite a shock that she looked so helpless far from the Mighty Murray i remembered from my youth.
This will be the first release off my forthcoming album
Hope you like!

Song Lyrics
Heavens Park
Music and Lyrics are Copyright Lana Ross
How do you tell a little girl
Her dads not coming home anymore
How well never hide and yell
Surprise as he walks through that door
Mum can we see dad today
Not today sweetheart
Well yes we can all we have to do
Is go down to heavens park
Heavens park is where daddy sleeps
I saw the man put him there
I wanna show dad just all I've learnt
Can we please go there today
I know he'll be sleeping but that's okay
I promise I will be good
Heavens Park Heavens Park
Its where me and my daddy can play
Bless her heart shes four years old
And lost her dad this year
I've explained about heaven and how we'll be
All together some day
She says that's okay mum cause I know where we
Can see dad every day
Its where angels fly and people cry and god is by your side
Heavens park is where daddy sleeps
I saw the man put him there
I wanna show dad just all I've learnt
Can we please go there today
I know he'll be sleeping but that's okay
I promise I will be good
Heavens Park Heavens Park
Its where me and my daddy can play
Well its where angels fly and people cry and god is by your side
Like Water
Music and Lyrics are Copyright Lana Ross
He walked away from the farm he grew up on
He'd worked his whole damm life to say no more
His father shook his head and did not understand
How could he walk away from this land
He said dad Im no longer a young man
And I've seen this place take the best from you
Two wives and five kids later
I don't want to lose my wife and family too
So let those tears fall down like water
God knows we could use a break from this damm drought
So cup your hands together
Lets toast from what this life has turned out
This lands been handed down from generations
Can you feel the pain I feel as I walk away
Please don't make this choice any harder
Im sorry but where leaving here today
Hard luck sweat and tears is all we've known now
Any man on the land would surely know
The price you pay for staying is so much higher
Than any price of land you'll ever know
So let those tears fall down like water
God knows we could use a break from this damm drought
So cup your hands together
Lets toast from what this life has turned out
Lets toast from what this life has turned out
So let those tears fall down like water

STORIES TO TELL LANA ROSS - LBS Music
By Deborah Minter
It’s been forty years and memories of the first time I ever heard TAMMY WYNETTE’s classic DIVORCE have just been rekindled with the first playing of LANA ROSS’ new CD Stories To Tell. The debut single Heaven’s Park has that same poignant tear-choked delicacy as the great Wynette classic. Lana’s vocals are so pretty, it is as if they dance across the music. Lana’s self-penned sweet lyrics and gentle melodies are delightful. The production by LINDSAY BUTLER is equally graceful. Songs like Like Water, Gypsy Song, Curlews Cooee and So It Begins Again are a soothing balm to the ear. Pioneering Days harks back to an early year and Crushing Time recalls the excitement of cane-cutting season. Lana Ross’ music is quite different from the common thread, much like gossamer is to homespun cotton. Although in no way ‘Irish’, this album will delight lovers of both Celtic and Aussie country music alike.LBS MUSIC LBS109CD
STORIES TO TELL ~ Lana Ross
By Charlie Sparrow LBS MUSIC - LBS109CD
Lana Ross hails from Marion near Mackay in North Queensland,
where they have a cane farm and harvesting contractors.
So, living in a country environment and having the ability to put
her feelings and thoughts around her into words, has resulted in
this lovely CD, Stories To Tell.
Talents abounds in her songwriting, with all the songs on this release penned by Lana. There's 10 tracks on the album with the first track to be released to radio, "Heavens Park", receiving good airplay around the country. "Crushing Time", "Pioneering Days", "Curlews Cooee" and
"The Story Of Lou & Joe" are just some of the good storiesthat take you on a trip back in time.
This release reminds me of the songwriting talents of Stan caster and Norma O'Hara Murphy,
both true legends in the field of country music. Ross has shown on this, her debut album that we have a country music lady loaded with talent.
All I can say is try to catch this lady in your local area as she performs and come onbroad and share the world of Lana Ross as she draws you a little closer to hear her stories in song at a show near you.
