STORIES TO TELL LANA ROSS - LBS Music
By Deborah Minter
It’s been forty years and memories of the first time I ever heard TAMMY WYNETTE’s classic DIVORCE have just been rekindled with the first playing of LANA ROSS’ new CD Stories To Tell. The debut single Heaven’s Park has that same poignant tear-choked delicacy as the great Wynette classic. Lana’s vocals are so pretty, it is as if they dance across the music. Lana’s self-penned sweet lyrics and gentle melodies are delightful. The production by LINDSAY BUTLER is equally graceful. Songs like Like Water, Gypsy Song, Curlews Cooee and So It Begins Again are a soothing balm to the ear. Pioneering Days harks back to an early year and Crushing Time recalls the excitement of cane-cutting season. Lana Ross’ music is quite different from the common thread, much like gossamer is to homespun cotton. Although in no way ‘Irish’, this album will delight lovers of both Celtic and Aussie country music alike.LBS MUSIC LBS109CD
STORIES TO TELL ~ Lana Ross
By Charlie Sparrow LBS MUSIC - LBS109CD
Lana Ross hails from Marion near Mackay in North Queensland,
where they have a cane farm and harvesting contractors.
So, living in a country environment and having the ability to put
her feelings and thoughts around her into words, has resulted in
this lovely CD, Stories To Tell.
Talents abounds in her songwriting, with all the songs on this release penned by Lana. There's 10 tracks on the album with the first track to be released to radio, "Heavens Park", receiving good airplay around the country. "Crushing Time", "Pioneering Days", "Curlews Cooee" and
"The Story Of Lou & Joe" are just some of the good storiesthat take you on a trip back in time.
This release reminds me of the songwriting talents of Stan caster and Norma O'Hara Murphy,
both true legends in the field of country music. Ross has shown on this, her debut album that we have a country music lady loaded with talent.
All I can say is try to catch this lady in your local area as she performs and come onbroad and share the world of Lana Ross as she draws you a little closer to hear her stories in song at a show near you.
